Saudi Arabia Will Host the 'World Expo 2030' in Riyadh

Saudi Arabia's Capital City Sets to Showcase Its Remarkable Progress and Aspirations on the Global Stage

In a landmark decision, Saudi Arabia's capital city of Riyadh has been selected to host the World Expo 2030. The announcement was made on November 28, 2023, following a vote by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the organization responsible for overseeing World Expos. Riyadh secured a resounding victory, garnering 119 votes out of a total of 165 cast. The other two contenders, Busan, South Korea, and Rome, Italy, received 29 and 17 votes, respectively.

The theme of the World Expo 2030, "The Mind of Humanity, Shaping a Sustainable Future for All," aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, a comprehensive plan to transform the country into a global leader in innovation and sustainability. The Expo is expected to attract millions of visitors and generate billions of dollars in investment, further boosting the Kingdom's economic growth and diversification efforts.

"Hosting the World Expo 2030 is a testament to Saudi Arabia's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and international cooperation," said Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. "We are honored to be welcoming the world to Riyadh in 2030 and showcase our country's remarkable progress and aspirations."

The World Expo 2030 will be held from October 2030 to March 2031 and will feature a series of pavilions, exhibitions, and events showcasing the latest advancements in technology, sustainability, and innovation. The Expo is also expected to highlight the Kingdom's rich cultural heritage and its role in shaping a brighter future for all.

The Saudi government has pledged to invest heavily in infrastructure projects to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for Expo visitors. These projects include expanding the Riyadh Metro system, enhancing transportation networks, and developing new tourism destinations.

The awarding of the World Expo 2030 to Riyadh marks a significant milestone for Saudi Arabia, demonstrating the country's growing prominence on the global stage. The Expo is expected to serve as a catalyst for further development and transformation, positioning Saudi Arabia as a hub for innovation, sustainability, and international collaboration.
