INDIA Alliance Meeting Postponed as Key Leaders Decline to Attend
New Delhi: A meeting of the INDIA opposition bloc, scheduled to take place in Delhi tomorrow, has been postponed to the third week of this month due to a lack of attendance from key leaders. The meeting, called by Congress boss Mallikarjun Kharge, was intended to discuss the upcoming state elections and the alliance's strategy.
Several prominent leaders, including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Samajwadi Party boss Akhilesh Yadav, and Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, have informed the Congress that they will not be able to attend the meeting. These leaders have expressed concerns about the Congress's insistence on fighting elections on its own or as the majority partner, arguing that it could hinder the opposition's chances of defeating the BJP.
The Congress's refusal to compromise on seat-sharing with regional parties has been a major source of friction within the INDIA alliance. In particular, the party's recent defeats in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan have raised concerns among regional leaders about the Congress's ability to lead the opposition effectively.
Despite the postponement, the Congress has expressed its commitment to continuing the INDIA alliance. However, it remains to be seen whether the alliance can overcome its internal divisions and present a united front against the BJP.
