Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may soon lose their royal titles under proposed new laws following allegations of racism within the royal family. A UK lawmaker is proposing an amendment that would strip the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of their royal titles.
The latest development comes after the publication of the royal book "Endgame" by Omid Scobie, which alleges that two unnamed members of the royal family raised concerns about the skin color of Harry and Meghan's son, Prince Archie.
Bob Seely, a Conservative Member of Parliament, has said that the UK government should consider the "nuclear option" of stripping Harry and Meghan of their royal titles because they have "trashed an institution that plays an important part in our nation's life."
"My aim is simple: if someone doesn't want to be royal, that is a decision we respect - but they should not keep the titles and privileges if they trash an institution that plays an important part in our nation's life," Mr Seely said.
Sources close to the Sussexes have denied the claims made in Scobie's book, but Mr Seely is skeptical of their denials.
Meanwhile, Express.co.uk has reported that a meeting is said to be taking place next week between King Charles and Prince William to discuss the matter, with the Prince of Wales reportedly demanding "action" be taken.
It remains to be seen whether the proposed amendment will be successful, but it is clear that there is growing pressure on the UK government to take action against Harry and Meghan in the wake of the race scandal.
